ST. Patrick´s Cathedral

St Patrick's Cathedral has been a part of Ireland's history since the first record of the building in 890. Today, it is one of the most popular places to visit amongst travellers. As one of the few buildings left from medieval Dublin, Saint Patrick’s Cathedral offers visitors a rich and compelling cultural experience. The Morgan Hotel is located a short 15-minute walk from St. Patrick's Cathedral. Head to our offers page to see our full range of packages for staying at the Morgan Hotel.

Built in 1220, St. Patrick's Cathedral is the largest cathedral in Ireland, and one of the country's most important pilgrimage sites. The stained glass in the windows, depicting various biblical stories, date back almost two centuries. In 1901, during building works, six Celtic grave slabs dating back to the 10th century were unearthed. One of these unearthed stones appeared to be the ancient remains of a well, which is thought to be the same well which Saint Patrick used in the fifth century. At this site, Saint Patrick would have baptised people into Christianity over 1500 years ago. St Patrick is traditionally credited as the man who brought Christianity to Ireland. If you wish to attend a service at the cathedral, there are services held daily, which all are welcome to attend.

Guided tours are available daily to showcase the many features and history of the church. Because the Cathedral does not receive regular government funding, those who visit it as an attraction are asked to pay a small admission fee. This fee helps to pay for the enormous costs relating to the upkeep of the building.

Please refer to St Patrick's Cathedrals website for the most up to date information on pricing and opening hours.
