Many people have been disappointed by cancelled summer holidays this year, making staycations in Ireland a popular alternative. At The Morgan, we want to help you plan the perfect staycation for two in Dublin city! We’ve put together a list of pointers to help ensure your staycation in Dublin will be one to remember!

  • Location, Location, Location

When it comes to location, a hotel in the centre of the city with the best attractions within walking distance is ideal. When you have a limited time in one place, it’s best to go at your own pace instead of relying on public transport. You can also explore more areas, taking side streets and shortcuts, letting you really get to know the city. We find this is the best way to discover hidden gems like artisanal coffee shops, small art studios and shops. The Morgan is located in temple bar, a cultural hotspot in the heart of Dublin, making it a brilliant place to call home for your time in the capital

  • Book Ahead

It is a good idea to plan where you want to eat ahead of time. Especially on busy nights like Friday and Saturday. Booking breakfast and also dinner with your room gives you one less thing to worry about when you arrive, so you can focus on enjoying your trip. Usually you can save money when you book these packages too, so it’s also a great way to cut down the cost of your trip. At The Morgan we offer a Date Night package that includes a stay in one of our stylish rooms, a delicious dinner at 10 Fleet Street and hearty breakfast the following morning all from €169.

  • Plan Attraction Visits

Dublin City has so much to offer when it comes to activities and sightseeing, it can be difficult to choose what to do when planning a short visit. It is a good idea to plan to visit attractions close by to each other so that you don’t spend too much of your time travelling. We definitely recommend visiting the Guinness Storehouse where you can learn everything about Guinness, from how it’s made to how to pull your own pint, then drink it in the Gravity Bar with 360-degree views of Dublin city. From there you can make your way to Phoenix park, perfect for a romantic stroll before dinner. You may even come across some wild deer! Exploring Temple Bar is also a must. Discover beautiful shops and cafés during the day or experience the unbelievable atmosphere in the evenings before retiring to your room for a relaxing night’s sleep.

  • Consider Transport Options

When booking your stay, it’s important to plan how you’re going to get there. If you prefer public transport, be sure to book a hotel close by the bus or train station. It’s not ideal paying for an unexpected taxi journey or waiting on an irregular bus service. The Morgan is centrally located, close to train stations and Busarás bus depot. You may wish to avoid public transport at the moment so driving yourself is another option. It’s important to consider where you’ll park in this case and of course the big question, ‘how much will it cost?’. Our Date Night package at The Morgan includes free parking in the Fleet Street carpark, one less thing to think about when you’re supposed to be winding down.

The Morgan truly is a great place to stay on your staycation to Dublin.

Whether it’s for a relaxing break or a celebration, we will ensure your stay is special from start to finish.
