Dan Lowrey’s Music Hall, as the Olympia Theatre was known originally, opened its doors in 1881, and in 1897 it re-opened as a theatre. It survived some of Ireland’s most turbulent times in history, including the Easter Rising and the Great War. Finally, in 1923 The Olympia Theatre was established as a theatre that presented opera, ballet, drama, pantomime, and films.
